Engineering and technology is exciting and fast-changing – shaping the world around us and improving the quality of our everyday lives.
Traditional images of engineering and engineers have focused on hard hats and dirty overalls, which is an image the IET is committed to change.
The IET Engineering and Technology Photographer of the Year Competition is open to any photograph of an engineering-related subject that captures the dynamic, creative and progressive face of engineering and engineers today.
The winning photographs will help challenge public misconceptions of engineering and demonstrate the ingenuity, breadth and vibrancy of the world of engineering.

The IET Engineering & Technology Photographer of the Year 2019 is open internationally and is split into two age categories:
- Junior – 16 and under

Persons in both age groups may submit a maximum of five photographs across any of the five categories. There is also a smartphone category for entering your photograph to the five themes listed above.
