Africa in Focus Photographic Competition by Wilderness Safaris

Africa in Focus Photographic Competition by Wilderness Safaris

Deadline: October 15, 2020
Entry Fee: $25
Prizes: Safaris

We want to see Africa through your eyes – and through your lens. For the fourth consecutive year, Wilderness Safaris is running its international photo competition, open to anyone and soliciting photographs taken anywhere on the continent. Help us celebrate and share the spectacular landscapes, unparalleled wildlife, and culturally rich, welcoming people that define Africa. With the global COVID-19 pandemic inhibiting travel and challenging us on so many levels, now more than ever we need to reminisce – and dream – of Africa’s beauty, adventure, wide-open spaces, and true wilderness. As captured in your photographs – your focus on Africa.

So whether you’re shooting elephant crossing the snaking blue channels of the Okavango, Himba traversing the rolling dunes of the Kaokoveld, the intense gaze of a mountain gorilla, a camel caravan in the Sahara, or any other striking scene, we’d love to see the best images you have to offer.

Categories

  • African Wildlife
This category showcases the best photography of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and any other living creature encountered on an African adventure. It is a celebration of the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
  • African Landscapes
Natural, undisturbed habitat is critical for the survival of all wild species. This category covers landscape photography and celebrates different ecosystems and natural features of Africa.
  • Conserving Africa’s Wilderness
Submit an image illustrating either a conservation need or a conservation achievement. Your image should be accompanied by a short explanatory note providing details on where and when the image was captured and what you feel it portrays.
  • People / Cultures & Communities of Africa
Celebrating the characters, cultures, traditions, and modern adaptations of a continent’s people and the engagement with their natural environment. Photographs in this category need to be taken within communities that live alongside wildlife.
