Portraiture Youth Competition – Sony World Photography Awards

Portraiture Youth Competition - Sony World Photography Awards

Opening: October 1, 2019
Deadline: October 31, 2019
Entry fee: Free
Prizes: Youth Photographer of the Year Title

If you’re aged between 12-19 years old this competition is made for you!

Each month you can submit up to three images relating to a specific theme. They’ll be seven competitions, with seven separate themes, to inspire you.

Each competition starts on the first and ends on the last day of that month. The more competitions you enter, the greater the chance you have of being awarded Youth Photographer of the Year, as the seven monthly winners will then compete to win the prestigious title.

This month we’re asking you to submit images relating to the theme PORTRAITURE

Throughout time the best portraits have revealed qualities of the sitter. Be it beauty, power, confidence – or perhaps a secretive quality – a good portrait image invites the viewer to gain a deeper understanding of the person being photographed.

Studio, candid, lifestyle, fine art or conceptual, a portrait can be taken in many different environments. Self-portraits are also welcome. Judges are looking for strong images that clearly showcase the personality of a person or group of people.

Prize

One winner and a shortlist will be announced on the World Photography Organisation’s social media and the winner will also be featured on our weekly newsletter. Share your images with us on Instagram by using the hashtag #youthofswpa.

Winner Announced November 8, 2019.
