To commemorate the year 2020, we are hosting the third MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival. This year’s themed visual works exhibition titled “We Are in This Together — Unforgettable Moments In 2020” is a collection and display of the images and video created by visual artists from all walks of life. The visual media represented this year gathers works from your average person living through the pandemic and showing that we can and will get through this together!
The exhibition will be open for submission from September 20th – December 5th, 2020 and is open for short videos and photography related to the pandemic from any artist regardless of age, region or specialty.
These works will be selected by the official judges of MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival, and the winning works will be awarded prizes. The offline exhibition venue of the theme video works is set in the “MEIHODO and Food Culture Museum” in Fukuoka city, Japan, and the online exhibition is in the official H5 page of the MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival of Tencent Video.
MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival is an independent visual media festival sponsored by MEIHODO, a Japanese corporation, aiming to support young photographers worldwide. It is a grand exchange event for the exhibition and selection of works by young photographers.
Founded in 2018, the annual Festival is jointly initiated by MEIHODO, Inc. and Beijing Film Academy of China. It is authorized by MEIHODO to be organized and operated by the Executive Committee of the upcoming MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival.
The event is composed of three parts: the theme works exhibition, the exchange of works, and the evaluation and award ceremony.
The honorary chairman of the Executive Committee of MEIHODO International Youth Visual Media Festival is Emmy Award winner Yue-Sai Kan (TV program host and film producer); special advisor is Oscar winner and Dean of Bard Conservatory of music Tan Dun (composer and conductor), chairman of the Judging Committee is Su Zhigang (President of the School of Audiovisual Media, Beijing Film Academy), chairman of the Selection Committee of is Su Zhigang (Dean of Audio Visual Media School of Beijing Film Academy) and chairman of the Organizing Committee is Su Qing (chief executive of MEIHODO Co., Ltd.), .
Two sessions have been held so far, and 663 video works have been collected from 12 countries and regions including China, Japan, the United States and Vietnam. A total of 68 entries were awarded with a total prize money 16 million yen.

Submission rules
- Limited to 5 graphic works and 3 video works per person.
- A maximum of 9 pictures can be used for each graphic work, and the text description is limited to 140 characters(Chinese), the Japanese and English words are limited to 140 words.
- Each video work: within 40 minutes, text description within 140 characters (Chinese), Japanese and English within 140 words.
