To mark World Mental Health Day 2020, Youmanity has partnered with the charity Papyrus for the launch of a screenshot competition: Friend-Ship.
In 2020, the world went into lockdown. A situation of unparalleled proportions in which friends became our lifeline, developing important emotional connections.
Together we explored new ways to stay connected, to support one another, to alleviate anxieties and cope with the many uncertainties that came with the outbreak of Covid-19.
We supported one another by making, sharing our experiences, good and bad. We learned that social distance does not have to mean emotional isolation. Video calls have now become part of our lives, helping us through crises of all kinds. According to the World Health Organisation, one person takes their own life every 40 seconds, and many more attempt to. Isolation is a main reason for suicide. Friendship, togetherness, and connection, therefore, are as vital as ever.
We want to reclaim the value of friendship by encouraging you to celebrate the importance of human connection through a screenshot!
Submission is free.
Each applicant will need to submit 1(one) screenshot capture.
Your screenshot entry
Friend-Ship encourages you to submit a screenshot of your phone, tablet, computer used during video calls with family, friends, neighbours and/or anyone you made video-calls with. Screenshots don’t need to be of high resolution so long they capture a treasured connection between friends.
The most original and fun screenshots will be showcased online in February 2021.
Prize
The winning screenshot will be awarded £500 cash prize.
