Eligibility
- Regardless of nationality, anyone living overseas is eligible to enter from this website.
- Foreign embassy staff members residing in Japan are also eligible to enter.
- Japanese citizens living in Japan are not eligible to enter.
Images
- Open to all themes. We are looking for thought-provoking and original images.
- Images must be uploaded to the website specified below. Email attachments are not allowed.
- Images must have been taken by you, and you must hold the original copyright.
- Composite and processed images are also acceptable.
- Images that have previously been published or that have won in other contests are eligible for entry. However, please do not breach the application requirements for such contests.
- Single images in color or monochrome may be submitted (sets of images will not be accepted)
- Images must be no smaller than 1 MB and no larger than 5MB. Images must be JPEG files.
- One person may submit up to five (5) images.
- Your image data will not be returned.

- 6 SPECIAL PRIZE winners (3 domestic, 3 overseas) CANON product, medal
- 94 HONORABLE MENTION winners (42 domestic, 52 overseas) medal

Notification of Award -winning Photographers
Award-winning photographers will be notified directly by us in late February by email.
Only award-winning photographers will be notified. We do not respond to inquiries about the results.
The award-winning images are announced in The Asahi Shimbun newspapers, in the “Photo Asahi” newsletter, and on the AJAPS website.
Exhibition
Prize winning works will be exhibited in Tokyo and other cities in Japan.
Catalogue
A catalogue of all award-winning images is scheduled to be published in April, 2021. The tentative price is 4000 JPY {including tax and shipping charges).
All winners will be presented with an award and a commemorative catalogue.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, judging, the Awards Ceremony and exhibitions may not proceed as planned.
