Deadline: November 29, 2020
Entry Fee: Free
Prizes: £100, publication in the journal, participation in the exhibition
Your opportunity to have your work published and exhibited in this collaboration between OmVed Gardens and Where the Leaves Fall magazine.
Where the Leaves Fall is an independent magazine exploring humankind’s connection with nature. Each issue explores three themes with a photography competition around one of these themes.
The chosen theme for our third competition is ‘cosmos’
The brief is open for photographers to submit up to ten high resolution photographs on this theme – either a single photo or a sequence of photographs. Although we invite an open interpretation of ‘cosmos,’ it is important the photographs demonstrate an interaction between humankind and nature, and a respectful approach to the natural and social environment. We also require that you write a short paragraph on how your photo, or sequence of photographs, fits the theme.
From the chosen sets, we will select either one photograph, or a selection, to feature in the next print issue of Where the Leaves Fall.
The magazine is made in conversation with OmVed Gardens, where an annual exhibition of the competition photography will be hosted. Your photograph may also be featured on the @wtlfmag or @omvedgardens Instagram accounts. We hope you enjoy this opportunity to have your work shown, but also to turn your camera on and engage with nature.
The winning photograph or photographs, printed on one page of the magazine, will receive a fee of £100. Sometimes we adapt a sequence into a feature in which case the fee will be £350.
Exhibition
The aim is to have one physical exhibition a year at OmVed Gardens in Highgate with the hope to draw in winning and selected shortlisted entries from four issues of the magazine. With restrictions around Covid-19 we are unsure how this will work for the first exhibition. There will be the option to make prints from the exhibition available for sale. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer travel or accommodation.
