The Alexia offers a Student Alexia Grant to enable current college student photographers to produce substantial bodies of work that share the Foundation’s goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding. Work that helps bring about change is more valued.
Student applicants are encouraged to consider proposing projects close to where you are. Our experience is that you’re more likely to produce a successful body of work if you can easily access the setting where you’ll produce the work. Most student grant recipients had already started working on the project for which they received an Alexia grant.
Deadline is Oct. 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time.
Eligibility
Applicants must be actively pursuing a graduate, undergraduate or associate degree in an accredited college or university in the U.S. or internationally or have graduated in May 2019 or be currently on an internship. You may not apply if you have graduated as of the end of 2018. No student who has worked as a professional photographer for more than one (1) year is eligible, including internships that total more than one year.
Student Awards
We recognize one grant recipient and two finalists. The grant recipient receives a fellowship for tuition and student fees to enroll in three courses during a semester at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School and a $1,000 stipend and is the research assistant for The Alexia director at The Newhouse School during the semester, a paid position.
