Opening: July 1, 2019
Deadline: July 31, 2019
Entry fee: Free
Prizes: Youth Photographer of the Year Title
If you’re aged between 12-19 years old this competition is made for you!
Each month you can submit up to three images relating to a specific theme. They’ll be seven competitions, with seven separate themes, to inspire you.
Each competition starts on the first and ends on the last day of that month. The more competitions you enter, the greater the chance you have of being awarded Youth Photographer of the Year, as the seven monthly winners will then compete to win the prestigious title.
This month we’re asking you to submit images relating to the theme ENVIRONMENT
The environment and our relationship to it has become a core subject in modern photography. Photographers around the world are using the power of the image to inspire action and behavioural change.
Show us, in a single image, how you interpret the current environmental changes happening across the world. Your angle doesn’t have to be negative, your response might be to highlight those trying to create a positive environmental future and how we can coexist with nature. Please outline the environmental issue you are addressing in your image description.
July competition is open for entries from July 1 to 31, the winner is announced on August 9.
Every month one winner and a shortlist will be announced on the World Photography Organisation’s Instagram feed, with the winner also featured on our newsletter. You can share your images with us on Instagram by using the hashtag #youthofswpa.
The seven monthly winners will then compete to win the prestigious Youth Photographer of the Year title, which is announced at the Sony World Photography Awards ceremony in April 2020.
