We are inviting photographers of any level, to show us the world through their eyes, to capture the many faces of humanity, and to document the universal expressions of life; laughter, courage, moments of reflection, journeys to work, first hellos, last goodbyes, and everything in between. What’s normal to you might be extraordinary to someone else.
Portrait of Humanity is one of the greatest collaborative photography exhibitions in history. At its core, Portrait of Humanity will be a celebration of our shared values: Individuality, Community and Unity.

- 30 winning images will be exhibited worldwide as part of the Portrait of Humanity Global Tour 2020
- 200 shortlisted images will be featured in the Portrait of Humanity book, Vol.2, published by Hoxton Mini Press and distributed worldwide
- Up to 100 commended images will also be exhibited digitally on Clear Channel screens internationally to be seen by millions
- All commended, shortlisted and winning photographers will receive extensive international press coverage

About Portrait of Humanity
In 2018, 1854 Media, publisher of British Journal of Photography, together with Magnum Photos created Portrait of Humanity, a timely reminder that we are all united by our shared humanity. Three years ago, we created Portrait of Britain. Envisioned as an exhibition for the people, by the people, Portrait of Britain captured the many faces of modern Britain. Portrait of Humanity is the next evolutionary step. Together, we have shown how our differences unite us on a global scale.
